TSMS system

(Total Spinal Motion Segment System)

Disc Motion Technologies of Boca Raton, Fl pioneered the first total joint replacement technique for the lumbar spine: True TSMS (Total Spinal Motion Segment System).  The True TSMS was designed to overcome the shortcomings of first generation artificial lumbar disks and dynamic stabilization devices. It offers a solution that restores the physiological motion of the spine and thereby alleviates pain.

  • TrueDisk- (Artificial Disk)

  • TrueDyne Posterior Dynamic Stabilizer (PDS)-  A posterior dynamic stabilizer that has a center of rotation that corresponds to that on the intact spine. The TrueDyne PDS can be used as a component of the True TSMS system or as a dynamic stabilizer with pedicle screws. Used to re-stabilize the spine following correction of spinal stenosis.

  • TrueDyne Pedicle Screws(DPS)- A dynamic pedicle screw that has 4 degrees of freedom while locked to a rigid rod or to a TrueDynePDS.  Can be used in fusions or in the True TSMS system.

The device is installed via the posterior spine and is designed to stabilize the spine while preserving motion and addressing all the causes of back pain. Inserting the device in a “posterior surgical approach improves patient outcomes and the unique device combination can also be used to address a broader range of indications and create new opportunities for growth.” Unlike first generation artificial lumbar disks and dynamic stabilization devices, there aren’t any “lengthy and complicated learning curves, risky revision procedures and device failures.”
